A place to share my musings on mental health...and for you to let me know what you think.
I've always wanted to write. I've had this desire for as long as I could read. As a child I read everything I could get my hands on and wrote voraciously in every genre - horror, romance, comedy - anything would do as long as I was creating - hoping that one day I would write for a living. Of course, I grew up, and life loomed large with all the responsibilities it comes with, and my dreams of becoming a writer were shelved, as I cracked on with the business of 'adulting'. I've always continued to write intermittently - mostly journal writing - but the desire to share my creativity has never gone away.
This blog seems like the ideal opportunity to bring together the two things that I feel most passionate about - mental health and writing, and to share some of the things I've learnt over the years. As I often tell my clients, I don't profess to know anyone better then they know themselves - how could that be? You will always be the expert on yourself, but I have gathered some knowledge of the human condition in general and some of the things that might be universally helpful when we are battling with mental health and life issues. I hope to open a conversation about mental health at the very least - where we can share thoughts, ideas and experiences.
